Written in 1990 for solo baroque cello. ‘Shortly after I composed this piece, I learned of Luigi Nono’s death. I would like to dedicate it to him as a farewell, with gratitude for having met him (even if only for too short a time)and for the privilege of having captured his message of openness and his constant self-questioning, which definitely altered my attitude toward composing music.
