The Windows was commissioned by Lincoln Cathedral to celebrate the unveiling of the restored Dean’s Eye Window. The text is by George Herbert (1593 1633), one time Canon of Lincoln. It was premièred on the 3 May 2006 bythe Cathedral Choir under the direction of Aric Prentice.
The second soprano part is optional and, if used, should be sung by an ensemble of singers positioned some distance from the main choir, in a gallery, for example, oroffstage in a concert hall environment.
